New City Choir

On December 13th our choir was invited to perform at Plaistow Library where 60 old age pensioners were gathered for their Christmas lunch. The children sang to the audience and gave each person a New City Christmas card. Well done to our New City choir!



DT Workshop

Year 2 had a fabulous time when The Puppet Lady came back to New City.
In Design & Technology, Year 2 have been looking at, evaluating and making different types of puppets. It was great to put our skills to use!


7 of our SEN children took part in the Newham Penathlon competition on November 19th. They took part in 8 different sporting events. Penathlon is a nationwide event for SEN children. All our children had a fantastic time and received a medal and a certificate.








Year 6 – The Guardian
This week, Year 6 visited the offices of the national newspaper The Guardian. This exciting trip enabled our children to become professional journalists for the day, working in the press office using the same tools as the Guardian employees to research, design and create their very own front page! Their final result was incredible and their work ethic was praised by the staff. Well done Year 6!


Year 6 - IntoUniversity
During the last week of half term 6K took part in an Into University FOCUS week. They studied all the different forms of media, from newspapers to television and even radio!

On Wednesday October 17th they visited East London radio and created their own podcasts which were broadcast at their graduation on Friday October 19th at London South Bank University.

SEN sponsored Walk
On October 17th 2018 our SEN children took part in a sponsored walk. The idea was to not only raise money but to ensure our children keep fit! They all had an amazing tome taking part!



Harvest Festival
On October 11th we celebrated our Harvest Festival. Thank you for all your contributions and for coming to hear the children perform their Harvest Festival song.



Black History Month

During Black History Month KS2 took part in workshops with Bigfoot Education. Classes took part in a Heroes: Buzz Day! Where they used drama skills to create shows on a significant figure in Black History. As well as creating their shows; children discussed how they should tackle adversity and racism and why it is important to study the lives and struggles of these individuals.

International Day at New City - July 2018

To help us celebrate the World Cup and the research work the children carried as part of this celebration we held an International Evening in July 2018. We were amazed by all the food contributed by our families. There were football competitions, dancing and even a magician!




Year 6 Show

In July 2018, Year 6 put on an amazing rendition of the musical Annie. They were truly amazing. Parents came to see their performance which was out of this world. Well done Year 6!








Summer Show

In July 2018  all the children took part in the end of term summer show. This was a wonderful way to finish off our academic year as children were able to show case their talents.








London Zoo

In July 2018, our Y6 children visited London Zoo. They had a great learning time exploring the different areas of the zoo.




Gardening at New City - June 2018

We are really lucky to have a roof garden at New City. Our children have been helping us grow lots of plants for all the children to enjoy our garden.




Sports Day

In  June 2018  we all went to Brampton Park to take part in our annual Sports Day. The weather was amazing and the children really enjoyed all the sports that they took part in. Lots of parents came to support too!






Year 4 Safari Trip - June 2018

In 2018 Year 4 went on amazing safari trip to Port Lympne Safari Park. They experienced seeing lots of animals, as well as driving in safari vehicles. They came back exhausted but they had a great time!



Year 3 Visit to the Science Museum

In 2018 Year 3 went to the Science Museum. They experienced all the different zones of the museum, where science was brought to life!




World Book Day

Every year we celebrate World Book Day by dressing up in one of our favourite characters from a book. All the children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character and so did the staff.



Science Week

In  March 2018 New City celebrated Science Week, through a range of activities including making volcanoes, have scientists visit the school and exploring lots of fun investigations.




New City Has Got Talent

In March 2018 all the children at New City took part in a New City Has Got Talent competition. Parents were invited to the final during which the winners from each class performed their talent, plus all the class sang a song. The event showed how much talent New City has got, including singers, dancers, pianists, magicians and comedians. Well done New City!






Year 2 Making Bread at New City

In 2018 Year 2 children all had the opportunity to make bread at school. They learnt what we need to make bread and how we make the dough. Parents and children enjoyed eating the products at the end of the day.







Chinese New Year at New City Primary School - February 2018

We were really lucky to have representatives from the Confucius Institute demonstrate dance, song and acrobatics with our children, to help celebrate the Chinese New Year.



Danish Visitors at New City

In January 2018 we welcomed lots of teachers from schools in Denmark. They came to New City to find out how we organise our learning. They were really impressed by the children’s work both in books and their art work.



Rock Workshop

In 2018 Year 3 were really lucky to have a rock specialist come into their classes and show a range of rocks. The children learned all about the different rocks and how they are formed.
