At New City Primary School we celebrate our rich diverse cultures in our school by organising a range of activities such as International Day, assemblies for different celebrations (e.g. Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Hanukah, Yalda night), and Go Gamelan.
At New City we want to make learning enriching, dynamic and meaningful with a forward-thinking global outlook. From year 1 children learn Mandarin and for the last 3 years through collaboration with the Confucius Institute, we have organised different activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which included dancing and martial arts.
We have also welcomed visits from head Teachers from Denmark on an annual basis to exchange ideas and strategies for school improvement.
New City Primary School – an International School
We are delighted to say in September 2021, New City has been awarded the International School Award by the British Council for building excellent relationships with partner schools across Asia, Africa and America.
At New City we have clearly embraced the necessity for developing global awareness with our children and have ensured that there is a strong International dimension to our curriculum. Our international activities include:
The Chinese New Year Festival, Gamelan workshops, Faith Tours (trips to a mosque, church, temple) and Earth Day.
As a school is developing an understanding and appreciation of the interconnection that completing International work can bring.
This will help our children to understand themselves and their place in the world. We are excited about continuing our international journey and our partnerships with schools across the world.
